Gyromitra... maybe esculenta? Poisonous in some parts of the world. Supposed to be safe here with proper cooking. Lots of locals call them beefsteak and say they taste good. I don't eat them.

I have eaten beafsteaks since childhood with no I'll effects. I agree they are considered poisonous in some regions, and should be consumed in small quantity.

The boy brought about 50 morels home the other day....been soaking in salt water and slated to be on the menu tonight!
