    Favorite ladder stand

X-Stands. I have a few of the “Duke”model and really like them. 20’ with very comfortable mesh seats. Most important feature is they use cables and ratchet straps attached to metal jaws that grip the tree at two places making it much safer when you climb treeto attach final ratchet strap...

    Other Species Foodplots?

Swampcat, Excellent post! Part of the joy of owning your own land is being able to experiment with different habitat techniques and watching the wildlife’s response to it. I’ve started to utilize disking at different times to what types of native vegetation responds to it particularly moist...

It took me 50 years to learn that anytime I get in a hurry bad things happen and/or I get hurt.

    Redneck blinds

I'm sure there is some but I couldn't figure out a way for the elastic cords and velcro straps to secure around the bottom frame without some sort of space and still be bolted to platform. I don't view this type of setup as even remotely similar to a hard sided Redneck blind with regards to...

    Redneck blinds

I have three. Built one two years ago and two last year. I didn’t put Deck boards on until I had platform up to save weight. I use the 2’ foam interlocking tiles as my floor that I remove with cover after each season. I attached blind frame to platform with four carriage bolts and used...

    Hinge cut height for bedding?

After 14 years of owning my property, I found most of my woods were looking like parks with very little bedding cover. I have been hinging parcels the past two years and use the following prescription. 1. I hinge cut trees up to 6-8" in diameter and find varying success in survival based on...

    Tree stand cables to chains

First thought I had when looking at pic was the use of a caribiner clip to attach chain to stand. I'd suggest replacing the caribiner with a shackle or sometimes called a "D' ring. I would think those would have more strength and still be adjustable. Just a suggestion.

Loading sabotted muzzleloader bullets, give me your thoughts

You don't mention what powder you are using? I used to use Triple 7 loose powder and the shockwave sabots. I needed to swab between shots as the powder residue made the second shot very hard to seat all the way. That was a pain during a hunt. I switched last year to Blackhorn 209 loose...

    Anti-freeze for sprayer?

Agree with the use of non toxic RV anti freeze and running thru the wand and spray nozzles. Rather than pouring a lot into tank, I'm able to reach into tank and put a smaller container(water bottle with head cut off) around intake hose and use a long neck funnel to keep it filled while running...

My response to the brilliant folks at qdma site

A recent yet to be published study on mule deer. Also, note the effects of cwd on group of penned elk described further down in article. I'm in the camp that cwd is a real threat to our valuable deer resource. http://www.wyofile.com/study-chronic-wasting-disease-kills-19-deer-annually/

    Tractor Comparison ... your thoughts?

In my case, I went with orange due to the interaction I had with dealer. I also bought some implements at same time I bought tractor. I would definitely recommend HST, FWD, FEL, loaded tires and in my case R1 tires due to bottomland use. I also had two rear remotes installed. Tractorbynet...
