I know many of you also contribute over on the Deer Hunter forum so if you’ve already seen this post then I apologize. I’m not trying to brag at all. This is an example of how habitat work can and does yield results. I know many of you have examples like this as well. I also figure with a buck...

    Borers Beetles Attacking Chestnut Tree

Was out checking out my fruit and nut trees at the farm this last weekend and noticed the newly emerged leaves wilting on one of my chestnut trees. As soon as I saw the wilted leaves I suspected what the problem was. Borers had attacked the tree. I’ve had it happen before several years ago but...

What would you do with this graft?

This is a crabapple graft from this spring. It is in a pot right now. As you can see only one side of the graft took...which is not uncommon. What bothers me is how then other side of the graft is growing apart and away from the trunk. Just curious if I should do something with this to make sure...

P18 rootstock - Pros and Cons?

Does anybody have any experience with P18 rootstock? I know it produces a near full size tree and it has antonovka in it's background. It should be good for wetter sites. What are it's drawbacks? Slow to produce? How does it compare to B118? or M111?

    Any idea what this is?

Started seeing this a couple of years ago on one apple tree and as far as I could tell it really didn’t cause any problems. It’s really noticeable this time of year after the leaves come off. This year I’m seeing this on several trees - apples and pears. Any idea what this could be? It is...

    Apple Tree Problem

This is a Terry Winter Apple tree on MM111 rootstock around 3 or 4 yrs old. Top growth looks pretty good other than needing pruning. The issue is at the base of the tree. Looks like some type of fungal disease. If this was your tree what would you do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
