Picked Wickson and Dabinette yesterday (Sunday 06OCT19)

I intend to scrat and press this coming weekend. I made a note last year that instead of picking Wickson first of October I should wait till end of October for "super-ripe"... but they were cracking and falling so a pressing in mid-October is what it is going to be this year. Dabinette's were...

Sundance Apple, round one thinning complete, yeesh!

8 years old. Fruited heavy and broke some branches in 2016. Took 2017 off. 2018 is a blockbuster or branchbuster if left alone. I feel like round two will come as the apple get some size on them and Sundance apples are large.

    B118 suckers...what would you do?

I've been using B118 root for many years. I've stumbled upon the first one that has suckered. 3 suckers to be exact. I have a hankerin' to try to harvest one or all but have a real concern about harming the mother tree (ChestnutCrab on B118). Anybody have success or failure on such an...

    Goldrush

This Goldrush (planted 2010) got away from me this year. The top half got no thinning (ladder issues) it didn't get picked either. The bottom half did. Heavy fruit load got it to leaning. A sunken post and a couple of ratchet straps fixed that. I'm going to see how long the apples hold on...
