"Wicked Wicks"

Any of you ever try this? Gene Wensel published an article called " Wicked Wicks". Basically you hang a rope from a likely licking branch and treat the frayed end with pre-orbital gland scent to try and get deer in bow range. Well, on my 80 acres I have had 4 Trail cams out since last spring with lots of doe/fawn pics but no bucks. I put out a couple wicks and have all kinds of deer shots around them- does and bucks. Here's a few shots. Some right up on the rope end. I just knew those bucks had to be around

Lot of guys use ropes. I'm a rubbing post guy with an natural branch.

Dipper, I usually don't mess around with scents and the rope thing was new to me. Do you treat your rubbing post branch with any scent or just leave it for the deer to scent it naturally?

Scents are a waste of money. Guys use regular rope from the store. I'd clean the debris under the rope with a rake or something.
Check out the rubbing posts thread. It's early yet, but I'm an overachiever. Haha

My rope work just fine with no scent added to it.
