"What's it worth" thread

I occasionally run across situations where I find equipment at a significant discount that I want to flip as part of a larger purchase. I fold the money back into other equipment purchases. I'd like to have a space to ask the group what they think things are worth. Hence this thread.

I'm curious of values of the following two items. If it matters, pricing for southeast or north central Pennsylvania.

1. 4' cultipacker
2. 45 gallon sprayer, 3 point mount, electric Shurflo pump, 12' boom - looks almost like new.

Don't know about PA, but that cultipacker would go for $600 in NE Wisconsin.

Sprayer thoughts? 1000000330.jpg1000000327.jpg1000000328.jpg

Packer seems like a steal at any price. It needs some hitch welding by the looks of it, but I’d write the check for that old heavy iron.

Sprayer seems like it don’t belong anywhere. Too small for farming, too big for food plots.

The land barrons on here would disagree about the sprayer assessment. Well maybe agree that on the small side. My buddy does over 20 acres of food plots every year and no regular row crops. They store and do upkeep on a sprayer that someone they know let's them keep it in their shed. Its a cart instead of a 3 pt though.

Point being if you wanna do 5 -10 acres of food plots which many on this site probably do, that's not a bad size.

No idea on value cause my world only has my largest "mega" 5/8 acre plot to worry about so agree outta my experience.

The Fimco sprayers like that start around $650 new. I would expect you to get roughly 50% of new price.

Fimco's are bottom of the barrel models. This has a Deere logo on the pressure gauge and a Shurflo pump. The boom has higher quality nozzles and nozzle bodies than the Fimco's. The spray gun is also higher quality. I think the Deere lists for about $1500. I was hoping to get $600 but could settle for $500. Reasonable?

Very reasonable. A professional grade sprayer can run you 3000.

What size tank is that.

If I'm buying that sprayer it's worth $300 or so......but, if I'm selling It's worth about $495. It would be worth more with a PTO pump to most farmers. Many food plotters are better served with a boomless set up......but farmers mostly prefer the spray booms for better control of the spray.

One thing I am not clear on.....is that long, big diameter hose. Looks like it could be used to water trees or fire control?? Odd hose diameter for a sprayer...IMO. Then too......that electric pump is not going to deliver the volume demands of that big hose. Maybe it's an optical illusion (?).

It's half inch hose on the hand sprayer. It should be a little better on how far it will shoot than the lower end sprayers, but like you mentioned, that's pump dependent. This one has a 3.6GPM/100psi pump vs the Fimco with a 2.4GPM/6 psi pump. It also has 5 nozzles vs the 4 on the Fimco. That's why I'm valuing it a little more than the Fimco. I've flipped a few Fimcos over the years too. The "High Flo" brand pumps they use are junk.

After seeing that add above for a new one.....I think your $600 price is quite reasonable. I like the UTV models so I dont tie up my tractor....and can operate at more speeds......but this is a good value for someone that wants a 3 point sprayer.....IMO. Is that drop spreader yours too? Those can be good mech. for lime.

That was the haul from last weekend. The sprayer, Groundbuster single auger 5' drop spreader, 5' New Holland 930 finish mower, 4' cultipacker and a Lincoln Welder.

Last year we upgraded from the 4'/500lb Groundbuster to the 6' 1 ton, dual auger model. I flipped a 60 gallon PTO boom sprayer and the 4 footer to do the upgrade. I did pretty well on the deal. I saw this 5' and the price was right. I might put a fertilizer plate on the 5', and keep it around. It was too good of a deal to pass up.

There are a couple guys around here that do what you are doing but they never get good stuff like cultipackers

Very hard to find a cultipacker like that under $500. Sprayer 300 quick 450 salower to sell.

Also, if your at camp often and alot of camps nearby, tool rental potential. Thoight of doing that a few years back when I had a kubota around.

That drop spreader looks nice.
