I have done a couple selective cut timber harvests before. I basically understand that process. Is anyone familiar with how a clearcut differs? Are there fewer timber companies, or more, that will bid to take everything instead of just certain trees? Are you getting much/any money for the trees that would normally not be taken in a select cut?

We clearcut our woods almost 10 years ago. We agreed to only leave oak trees. We had 1 logging company that took the sellable logs and another company took the junk trees for pulp or other stuff. I will say when they were finished, we questioned if we made the right decision to clearcut it. It looked like a total disaster. But I would say year 2, it started to regrow and now it is some of the best deer habitat you could ever want.
