What did Santa bring?

356

5 year old buck +
We habitat junkies always get interesting gifts that would cause most city folks to roll their eyes.

This year I got a new outhouse to replace the one that died after many seasons (and being left out for a year!) and new Muck boots!

I got a new tree stand. Really didn’t ask for much this year, we are in the middle of a house build, and furniture, and other accessories will be needed, so we will be purchasing many new things this spring, so we decided to hold off on other things for now.

Same here….we moved into our newly built home a couple of months ago and decided to just appreciate what we already have this year.

A pair of Moultrie cell cams, and a small, cheap Drone from Temu. Not expecting much from the drone but we'll play with it to see if we'd get use out of a better one.

This year was a lot more giving than receiving. I gave my niece and nephew my old Daisy .22 rifle and bought their family a new semi-auto .22 so they could go plinking together. The kids are about the right age to learn how to shoot, buy way too simall for proper guns. I also gave them throwing knives and tomahawks, plus various targets and gardening stuff. I hope it all will give us more hobbies in common. They're all into that stuff already, but mostly just scratching the surface. Should be fun.

Carbon steel griddle. Do a lot of cooking on cast iron but still made pancakes and such on non-stick cookware. Trying to get rid of all that teflon type stuff.

What I asked for .......... Rayovac D cell batteries for cell cameras, I got a couple of 12 packs and hope I have a couple more coming. My wife insisted I needed more gifts. So I also got 3 new 12' inflatables for the yard Rudolph, a Christmas tree and the Bumble! I currently have a 12' Santa and a snowman. I do like the giant inflatable yard decorations. Kansas wind is a bitch though.. LOL. I will wait to set them all up until next Christmas, the new house does not have grass so the yard is a muddy mess everytime we get precipitation.

Some people down the road from us have the huge bumble, Yukon Cornelius, Rudolph and a bunch of others. I always slow down to look🤣

Got some new Alpha Burleys (800 g variety) and my brother came through big time with a sweet First Lite jacket (my current outer fleece is probably 20+ years old and a size medium..i haven’t been a medium in 20 years..)….here’s to being warm in the new year!

Our house sets on a hill and even with what we currently have I can't believe the FFA has not coming knocking on the door! You can see our Santa from a mile away.

Something like this?

Or this? (notice the snow plow hitting the car in this one about :19 in.

Unfortunately I have been down with covid, so all of my events have been virtual. The wife and kids got everything they wanted except the new vehicles they always ask for. I expect to get the clothes I need and some gift cards to BPS or Academy.

The best gift ever….daughter in law will be having grandson #5 in June! Another habit/hunting buddy on the way.
It was a great afternoon with the kids and grandkids yesterday, and the wife knocked it out of the park with her cooking.

Well I can’t top H2O although my middle son who just got married said that they’re trying to make one LoL. I got a couple of gift cards, a light weight outdoor themed jacket, new hunting vest and a 2026 fishing license. More importantly I got to spend the day with 2 of my 3 boys and their families. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and that the coming New Year is good for all

New to me anvil I’m not taking up blacksmithing just wanted something better than a short piece of railroad rail to use once in a while when an anvil is needed. I welded up a quick little stand to keep in on after I picked it up. I placed a 1/4” plywood between the stand and anvil to help with ringing. It’s an imported Japanese made Multi Prod Co farriers anvil. Much better than the rail I’d been using. Really the rail wasn’t horrible but it’s face wasn’t really flat. IMG_3117.jpeg
