Weather

I hate cold and rainy springs and summers since they make things tough on the pheasant and grouse chicks. But those wet years sure are good for newly planted trees. We have been pretty lucky this year, just when things start to dry out we get a timely rain.

We have gotten over 10" during this past week.. make it stop!!

More cool weather and rain today. Great for the trees but we need some heat for the plots.

Spread some urea and seeds on Sunday. Got a 1/4" Sunday night and about 1" overnight into this morning. Perfect. Glad we missed the heavy rains that some areas were slammed with.

It has been ideal growing weather for my area, rain about every day, or at least every couple days. And sunny when it isn't raining.

Getting raked again. Severe thunderstorm warning. Hope damage is minimal.

Yep, went right over your area, headed my way. Reports say dime size hail and torrential rainfall.

Missed me by about 2-3 miles...darn the luck:emoji_thumbsup: .4 for the day is enough for me.

Didnt amount to much here either. Went through very quickly.

Looks like I got about 2" yesterday, one in the early morning and then one later in the afternoon. Haven't seen any damage reports so that's a good thing. These summer storms are so spotty. If it pops up on or near you it really dumps on you. Few miles away may get nothing. Then the storm picks up some steam and quickly plows through other areas dropping less rain.

Leading up to this weekend I wasn't planning on planting because this week looked to be dry. Late last week the forecast changed, 80% chances today and Wednesday, so I planted. Well today was a bust. Hopefully Wednesday doesn't fall through.

I did most of my fall plots last weekend too

Got my brassicas in a couple weeks ago and haven't hardly had a rain since...we are due for rain later this week. I have only had to water my new fruit trees 4-5 times this year, seems like up until a few weeks ago we were getting a half to and inch or more of rain every week here. Everything is very lush this year...the opposite of last year when we didn't get a rain from early June through August.

I only watered my new fruit trees once early in the summer and it probably wasn't even necessary. My area of IL has received good "on time" rains all year. Very blessed. I know areas in southern IL, southern IN, and large parts of IA have been dry. Hoping everyone gets the rains they need. Hearing reports in dry areas of ehd starting. Sure hate to see that. Want the creeks to stay running. Hoping to catch the half inch in our forecast later today.

Edit: did get the half inch, but the rain that was supposed to give it totally missed. It came from a somewhat unforcast cloud that passed over early in the day. Often how it works. Food plots and trees are happy for now.

I don't know about you but it looks like I got a 1/4" at best. Far cry from the 1"+ predictions. And now the rain for Friday is gone from the forecast, next chance is Sunday night and Monday.

.16 is what farm log said. I hope there was more after midnight which will show up tomorrow. We were hammered at home near Madison.

Tell me about it....a whopping .2 in the gauge this morn. Could have used a little bit more here.

You guys are lucky... less than 2" here since Memorial Day.

Had the big tease yesterday...we were forecasted for rain all day ended up with it getting dark and windy then just got a little pickle shower around 3:00 and it blew off....Grrrrrr
Supposed to rain tomorrow but I'm not counting on it, I'll just plan on watering the trees Monday.
