Waterfowl

Yep, three banded mallards so far this season.

Worst I have ever seen SW Arkansas. Broke a 58 yr streak of opening days. Didnt go it is just so poor.

Shot a limit of honkers in NE Indiana today, and one lone mallard. But, the mallard was banded in Grantsville, Wisconsin in March 2012!

We didn't much today, need some weather to move some birds in

I see why you shot that Susie!

Guilty! #4!

Pounded the mallards and geese yesterday and was almost surprised we didn't get one. If Darcy retrieves them they go on her collar.

You guys are giving me the urge to call up some buddies and see if they have a spot or two.... It's been a few years since I have been, but it was a lot of fun....well, it's fun when the birds cooperate...lets put it that way.

I went yesterday afternoon, after church. Saturday, was a bust in my spot. Got there yesterday afternoon, and the ducks were already flying before we could set up. Problem was, many were headed back to the roost, less than a half mile away. There were about 500 geese on the roost plus ducks, keeping it open. Was hard competing, but we scratched a few out.

Love the pics! I went to Lanier two weeks ago and saw a fair amount of ducks, but they were not coming in. The geese on the other hand were coming in left and right plus landed right in front of me. Never pulled the trigger. May take my son and a few of his buddies back so they can get some geese.

Had some weather move through so went out with the youngest son yesterday morning to see if we could get anything in.
Hunting was very slow but the conversation was great. Killed the only two that came close. I don't normally shoot at goldeneyes because I don't like eating them, the youngest boy has no inhibitions shooting or eating them.

We took off a morning from work and went hunting saw hundreds and we did ok but learned alittle about where they want to land VS where we wanted them to land

It was an unbelievable morning we had hundreds land in the decoys and filled our limits and I even got 2 in one shot. They were swarming us for 15 minutes before shooting time so it was really cool to watch

I went to a little waterhole/swamp on public land yesterday morning that typically produces a limit and didn't see any. Rode around and checked a few other ponds that I do not have access to and saw several limits.

This morning wasn't quite as good as yesterday but we almost had a 3 person limit,my daughter was trying but missed a couple of ones that were right there but she is getting better.

Christmas eve geese, nine by 9:00 am one was banded in 2013 Ontario..one cackler. Lots of birds pushing through, had a few nice flocks of ducks look but they didn't like the silos.
