Waterfowl

Looked like a big wedge shaped bill. Should have zoomed!
We do get a few little wads of cans around in December if the lake doesn't skim over to hard. We really get into the cans on St Claire.

That is a great Christmas gift to yourself though..the king of ducks. Did you get him mounted?

Yes. He's mounted with a hen I shot a few days before, and a big drake ringer. I have never tried to figure out the photo thing. Can you still put one up on taptalk?

I think there is an option with the new format here?
I’ve been using Imgur as my host for pics it’s easy to use and free. But I’m not sure if you can use it with phone?

I'm jealous. I'm hoping more birds show up for me this year. We don't open until December. The mosquitoes are bad in the swamp now, as we are still reaching into the 80's. Sat near the swamp this weekend and had some good woodie action, so I'm encouraged. Last year I killed all of my smartweed to plant millet and rice. Armyworms wiped out about 3 acres, so I was left with nothing for food. Left it alone this year and loaded with smartweed. Gonna see what happens.

Our main opener this weekend and we already have loads of mallards and woodies here so should be a good weekend.Last year we didn't have mallards till Dec

We have mallards too. Scaup and ring neck show up mid November like clockwork. I think our opener isn't until November 14th.

Have been on vacation for about a month, it's been Darcy and I solo hunting corn stubble fields or a big pond that I like to hit. If it is crazy windy I take her duck hunting. We haven't been skunked yet, some mornings are just a bird or two others are pretty hot. So far the season has gone well and the dog has been able to switch gears from upland birds to waterfowl no problem. Two bands so far.

Yes! It came in with a hen mallard...I took him first.

Corn stubble with foot deep sheet water in it.

Are the woodies still around? I just gained permission to a quarry, it's covered up with divers at the moment. Our season comes in Saturday.

Couple divers off a big pond then out to the corn stubble today.

Nice! I hunted Saturday morning and never fired a shot. Didn't hear anyone around shoot, either. I think some fresh birds came in last night / today. Have to work tomorrow, then off all week to chase ducks!

It should get pretty good in about a week, colder snowy and windy... that will push some birds around.

See theres a band in that pile,we saw quite a few and decoyed some mallards. We are seeing alot of teal when last year about all we shot was woodies
