Seems the new neighbor kids really like the upgrade I did this spring. Used to have a couple of plastic barrel halfs in this location, but got a pond liner from Menards with one of their 11% off sales. Only about a foot deep but I wanted to keep the slope gentle so could try to keep dirt covering the liner. Will see how durable, you can see some of the plastic on the edges now. Located at bottom of slight hill so far has been kept fairly full. Dates on pics are off

Awesome! Real similar to the waterhole I have only I have clay bottom and runoff keeps mine full. Every pic I get the deer are up to their knees in water which I think they prefer.

Some in progress pictures during a dry spell earlier this year and one with all the dirt compacted back in. Since then had pretty good rain events.

How much did that cost? It looks real good.

I think it was about $80 before discounts for the liner but it was big enough to make two pools about that size.

Just because the natural look of this peaked my interest I looked them up on the Lowes on-line store and the small one I found was 120" x 84" for $40. They had larger ones as well up to 240" x 156" for $140

Revisiting and updating an old thread. Unfortunately the pool installed above started to leak about year 2 and by year 3 was not holding any water and was just growing grass. Other priorities for awhile but this year pulled the rubber liner out with the tractor and now trying version number 2 with about $100 worth of clumping kitty litter. I don't have a camera here now but seeing a fair number of critter tracks right away. Will see if this holds up or needs more materials spinkled in. Tried to find easy source of bentonite from a well company or similar but google search was not coming up with much so just waited to pick up stuff when they ran sales in the pet department at Fleet Farm or TSC.
