Verizon and Cuddelink

Snowshoe Acres

A good 3 year old buck
I have 10 family viewing pictures daily. Two weeks ago, the Verizon users stopped getting text messages. Everyone else, no change. Anyone else experiencing this?

I just have them sent to my email and I can check my email from my phone so I dont bother with texting. Though I am sure you dont want 10 people viewing your email every day! LOL

You can email up to 10 people.

It seems like The majority of the time that people have issues getting images from cuddeback it is because they are trying to text them. Email is definitely the way to go.

I too noticed I have been receiving text pics recently. But I still get the reports text'd to me.

Verizon changed their spam filter rules which ultimately ended up blocking Cuddelink images to anyone set up to recieve them via text. Cudddback is attempting to figure out a solution but i feel that ultimately, the text option will go away. Your options are and will be email, the app or the photos feature in camp . The app is free and does everything text does and more. There has been enough of these text blocking as spam with other providers that makes it a real challenge. I dont know of any other cell cam manufacturer that allows text , many of them only allow their app to be used.

John, are we going to see an updated version of the app at some point? I'm using it, but the interface is very dated.

they are continually updating it so make sure you are on the most recent version , but yes there are some changes coming very soon, also new features for cameras etc.

I'm really missing the texted pics, as are the folk I shared them with. I've added their email addresses to the share list, but they're not very good with email on their phone and only use a computer at their work. Sometimes.
Me, I'm using the app on the phone, which works okay, but it's frustrating that there's no full screen option. On the initial view, the phone is vertical and the pics are fit to width, which is pretty small. then we scroll down vertically. If I rotate the phone to landscape, I expect the pics to be bigger, since the pics are landscape, but the large band of controls across the top, and the Cudde banner at the bottom, leave such a thin viewing area that I don't even get one whole pic. wish the controls could be turned off, or automatically moved to the side.
If I touch an image, it goes to a different viewer. With the phone vertical, the pics are sized to match the screen width, which is pretty small. When I rotate the phone to landscape, the pics don't get any bigger, because the controls are across the bottom. scrolling through pics on this interface is fine as well, but I wish the controls were hidden, or at the side, or smaller. I can zoom in and drag around to see closer, but I'd rather just have bigger pics to start with.
The texted photos we got in the old days were much bigger on the phone. The menu bar was much smaller, and there was no extra Cudde banner at the bottom.
Is there some way I don't know about to view the pics bigger in the Cudde app?
I'm using iPhone 14.
I also liked the announcement tone on the texts. Gave Cudde their own ringtone, and any time I heard that ding I was looking forward to checking the phone. Work, church, meeting with Joe, meal time, that special sound filled me with anticipation. There's something waiting for me!
I miss the old days.

i understand - but know that this was out of Cuddebacks control . Verizon changed the way they classify spam and the delivery method for pics delivered by Cuddebacks server fell into the new classification. Cuddeback actually tried to get this resolved but ultimately wasnt able to. They met with a verizon rep recently and for Verizon to change the classification would have required additional cost that exceeds the cost of the cell plan just to have the text option available for one address, and even then.... it wasnt guaranteed that all images would get delivered. My guess is if something doesnt change that text images wont come back and likely will also go the same route with other phone providers.
That said ,know that your feedback didnt fall on deaf ears, as today i asked that the engineers explore if they can add a feature in the app where the images when viewed horizontal can fill the screen and eliminate the menu/command bars and allow the user to just swipe thru the images in full screen mode. We have some new changes coming to the app around the end of the year so my hope is this can be incorporated into it as a new feature.
here is a link to the app tutorial that was just completed. we will update this when the new app is released.

Good info John. Are we going to see improvements in the app for camera/settings management?

Thanks for leaning in on this, John. I agree that the apps usability could use a big lift if Verizon is playing hardball.

Here are a couple things that would be nice…

- I used to share the bucks that came to my cell to a shared folder on iCloud. Was great for sharing with family, and made it easy to categorize—each buck gets its own shared folder. The current categorization in the app is clunky and the pics will disappear if the planning large enough and you can’t share with others.
- nice to have: I spend a LOT of time in the off season sorting the pics on the cards, since they have higher quality. It would be awesome if your engineers could apply some AI tech to auto sort the pics with buck’s from the does.

Still love the CL system. Getting ready to deploy our cams this weekend.

John, thanks for the responses. I understand that the text issue isn't Cudde's fault. I'm just grieving the loss.
Thanks for picking up on the full screen viewing feature for possible design. I've also learned on my Gaia gps app that some apps take their text size and zoom settings from the phone settings. I have my phone text and zoom set the way I want it, but then the Gaia buttons are too big and don't all display. So when I'm using Gaia for awhile, I change the phone settings so I can fit more on the Gaia screen. Your engineers prolly already know that concept, but it was new to me that the phone is controlling the app settins. Just to say, with the current Cudde phone app, I did minimize all the choices on the phone settings, but the pics were still cramped by the text.
When I am polled for my most desired improvement, it would be to number the pics from each camera serially from 1 to 10,000 and then start over. And carry those numbers through the cell transmission process. I've mentioned this before. My very first game cams did this, but nothing in the last 10 yrs. I think it's a pain in the neck to view the thumbnails soon, and then have to keep a record (date, time, camera) of which pics to target when I retrieve the SD cards. Administration is not my strong point. Maybe others have a good way to do this. But I just wish the thumbnails on my phone wouldn't repeat numbers each mailing. So I could, like, note that I want #798, 300, and 022 from the card on cam1, and 017, 233 and 234 from SD on cam2. And to know that those numbers are always with those pics and the thumbnails.
That is my feature request, provided at no charge to forum members.

PS I am still really enjoying the Cudde experience. Daily delivery of pics from my cameras 2-1/2 hours away is just way cool. Oh, the old days when I would set up a nice traditional camera, and then make the trip to check it 6 weeks later to find one of the batteries was defective and I only got 5 pics. Cudde is way better. And I'm running a second network on land 20 minutes away, where Cudde still has a huge advantage in providing prompt viewing without waiting for card pulls. Hey! I just got an email notification. Gotta go check the Cudde account...
