Uncatagorized.....things we see....

2C might be a hoot. I could express my relief of being unburdened by what once was.

This brings me to a story one time, don’t tell my wife, when me and a buddy were up in British Columbia skiing. Coming back we had to fly out of kalispell. Well we get to our gate and there is a certified 10 sitting there and of course we play the oh man I’d give my left…you know typical bs talk. Well we board the regional jet with 2x2 seating and my buddy is across the isle from me with someone next to him. Plane fills up and I assume I’m gonna have a spot to myself when here comes the 10. I’m like no way is she gonna sit next to me, wrong. I literally turn to and give my buddy a glance and try to contain the shit eating grin on my face as he shakes his head in disgust. So before we even takeoff we are engaged in small talk, mind you I’m married so it’s genuinely harmless. I proceed to spend the next two hours talking to one of the dumbest human beings to ever shit behind a pair of sneakers. Was flying down to Denver for some banking conference. If the bank that hired her gave her any authority on money, half of kalispell is broke now. After we get off the plane my buddy is giving me hell and I’m like dude I’m mentally exhausted, that was painful. But had it been 10 years prior you bet your ass I would have stayed in Denver for a banking conference!

Pheasants are VERY rare in my county due to the crazy high agriculture maybe 90% plus is row crops with no fence rows.

I stock our farm five miles away from our home and have had a few survivors that have held over through the winter past couple years…even thought I saw a couple half grown birds last summer mowing trails in pasture.

But this is a first, just thought I heard a rooster crow? Looked out the window and there he is right in the yard strutting along the edge of the woods. Have seen a few turkeys over the years and we see deer all time…this is a first.

Almost had to have escaped from someone raising them around the block? But I don’t think any of my neighbors close by have pheasant most of them are all older retired couples.

You should find a way to buy that rooster a few hens!

A Son-in-law to a freind of mine recently took this Red Stag in New Zealand. Amazing critter. Not sure what this hunt cost him. Any ideas? He does hunts such as this on a regular basis. Insane critter. Imagine if they would have given him "one more year"....lol.tempImageQWfGB8.png

Hard to say. Other countries have different scoring standards and complicated trophy fees. Off the top of my head, I would guess at least 10k, all in. But I have no idea how they score deer or price trophies. I've never even seen a red deer like that in Europe. I wonder if it's some kind of hybrid, or a local breeding program.

That is a good one for sure but the angle of the antlers is making it look larger as well. Red Stag do have that weird antler style in general though.

I'm guessing in this day that deer would cost more than 10K

Thankfully it didn’t damage His antlers on the fence

Oh are those high fence?

99.9% yes. I know Argentina and New Zealand are largely high fence deals. There is free range but that ain’t it

I asked that question too.....and I beleive this is a high fence hunt. That critter looks like he has been groomed for a big pay day......but I do not know that for certain. I'm guessing all said and done this is a $50,000 hunt. I think he pays some big coin to get big critters. He has a home full of them in Wyoming and another home in Scottsdale.

I'm only guessing....but I think he books most of these hunts through the likes of Safari Club and such.

I don't know what Safari Club's markup is, but you can get a much bigger deer than that for 50k.

Not in Europe. It's not a natural look for what I've seen here. That one has something unusual going on. I would guess either something else mixed in or a breeding program designed to maximize mass.

If New Zealand is all high fence, it wouldn't surprise me if it's literally livestock. I've seen high fence places in the US where the deer have massive atypical antlers bred purely for high scores that fetch big money from people who are into that.

I thought I remembered seeing a free range red stag hunt in New Zealand where the stags had clean frames like I see in Europe.

Yeah you are right. The natural ones look way different. Much more like an elk. These are a bastardized version of a cool animal
