Uncatagorized.....things we see....

Typically meat chickens are primarily "broilers" as we used to call them. Young male roosters. They pack on the meat faster.
Are they immune to the bird flu? They have to be laid by hens don't they?

I would guess not. I don't know all the facts regarding chicken raising. However, I am guessing that more birds are raised for the meat than for egg production. A single laying hen typically produces an egg a day at 18-22 weeks and a meat chicken is ready for slaughter in 7-8 weeks. A meat chicken is obviously a one and done, where as the egg producers are going to produce a few hundred eggs in their lifetime.

Just ran into a product called "Fuel Keg" and I believe they are now marketed by Mr Buddy Heater. Finally a legitimate way to refill 1 lb tanks?

Anyone have one?? Report on em?? They are available on Amazon too.

I was at wally world the other day, and they have them there. I work for an RV store, so I'm pretty familiar with propane. After looking at these refillable bottles at the store, I'm not sure how they're filled, but, hadn't done the research yet either.

I did a little more research on 'em. There are two brands out there. Both have a small vent hole that allows the tanks to be filled to the top....at which point they will squirt some propane thru that vent. When it does that you close a valve and the tank is full. Seems everyone is happy with them....tho the initial price for these specialty tanks is a bit much. (you can buy 4 for about $60.). I suppose after a few fills your money ahead and the tanks will last a long time.

My issue was how do you fill it, because the top is obviously not large enough for our regular LP filler where I work. Youtube'd it up, and there's an adapter kit that has to be purchased, looks like around $30. You hook up that adapter kit to a larger propane bottle to transfer/fill.
I like to camp out at my lease, so I always have a 20lb lp tank there, use it for a blackstone grille. I use the Mr. Buddy heater also, usually to heat up my tent, sometimes to heat up my blind, and that thing will go thru a 1lb bottle pretty damn quick.
Doing the math...We sell LP refill here at $5/lb, our cost is around $2.90/lb. 1 bottle of non-refillable LP is around $5 apiece at walmart. Refillable cylinders run about $19 each. The adapter to fill is around $30. I can do the math a number of ways, but it seems the savings is pretty minimal.
I can appreciate the convenience of being able to refill 1 or 2 bottles instead of packing around a 4 pack like i usually do, and, don't have to throw away the containers.

Kinda the way I see it too. Pretty expensive....but the convenience may make it worthwhile for many. It's under consideration here....tho I mostly have connected our heaters via a hose to 25 lb tanks. (that was not "cheap" either......but the hassle of little tanks is now gone.)

How come there's no chickens to lay eggs, but I can buy all the chicken in the poultry section I want?
They had to do something with all those chickens the killed.
