Have a switchgrass project in progress at my cousin's property. This past spring summer sprayed numerous times with gly and 2-4d. Hit it with Simazine in early September. Its bare dirt and I plan to frost seed very soon. Will hit again with Simazine in March and then if we have any stubborn weeds was wondering about the safe use of Triad Select TZ on our newly established switchgrass next summer? Is this product safe on new Switchgrass? I have used Triad Select in the past and it seemed to work pretty good without harming my switchgrass. I am unsure what is in the newer Triad Select TZ and if its safe on new switchgrass.

356-Good chance you are right, just trying to come up with a plan for every contingency. This is a way bigger project than the switchgrass I established at my home and I really want to make sure that I have thought of everything. Currently awaiting the perfect conditions to frost seed.

ID any predominate plants / weeds in the spot? Past few years crops? No big need for contingency's, history usually repeats itself. That's the seed bed.
War with weeds is a 2-3 year fight often. Did that with red aramath.
NEver played with switchgrass, but if you've never had anything in there for years, you might want a year of cover crops, something you can control your problems with. Like buckwheat, then maybe doing something with oats in the fall. Oats winterkill in most of the US.
How many acres are you doing? Any tillage prep done or amendments like lime? Broadcast or drill?

Its probably 2 acres total. A low area at the front of the property that borders the road. Idea is to create a screen between the road and the woods. As I mentioned earlier, site was prepped all last spring and summer using gly and 2-4D when needed. Sprayed with Simazine in September and is currently devoid of any vegetation. Plan is to frost seed when conditions are perfect this winter and hit it with Simazine in March before any green up. There was mainly some type of cool season grass in there last spring before I sprayed it for the first time so I would imagine thats what dominates the seedbank. Perhaps an early summer application of Quinclorac if the cool season grasses begin to be an issue.
