Successful First Time Hunter

356

5 year old buck +
I had the privilege of mentoring Wayne, a new Missouri Department of Conservation biologist, on his first deer hunt. Hunters such as Wayne are a cause for encouragement for our future. He made a perfect quartering away shot on his first whitetail. We also enjoyed watching turkeys chasing deer and a wild Tom/Buck showdown (the Tom Turkey won). Wayne was a quick learner when it came to processing his deer, and is looking forward to a variety of great meals from his harvest.

That's what it's all about! Was able to get my cousin and his friend on their first deer this year as well, made for an awesome weekend

That’s so cool! Bringing my nephew next year and I’m already excited about it

That’s awesome, 365! I invited and had 2 friends drop their first whitetail deer on our property this year as well. So rewarding to see their excitement! One guy had been trying to get a deer unsuccessfully the past 4 years… he got his doe in the first minute of the season.

Always impressed how many people you open your land up to for hunting. Congrats on the success for Wayne, and the fulfillment for you must be wonderful!
This particular hunt was on Andy Clay's Farms, so I want to be sure to give credit where credit is due. We do host several new hunters on our property each year, including an 18 year old who will be doing his first firearms hunt (with a muzzy, to boot) this week. To Andy, me and others who host these hunts, this is part of our stewardship of the land we enjoy and manage.

Great job!!! And congrats!
