sandbur 5 year old buck + Jul 15, 2014 #2 I suspect white spruce which is sometimes called green spruce. I like the book, Trees and Shrubs of Minnesota by Welby Smith. It is not cheap, but it sit directly under my laptop with my Fruit, Berry,a nd Nut Inventory book.

R Riggsgwp-> 5 year old buck + Jul 15, 2014 #3 X2 on white spruce. Black hills spruce tends to droop and appears to have heavy boughs. White will be more upright as in the photo.
