Son’s first Muzzleloader Deer

356

5 year old buck +
I took my son out for his first Muzzleloader hunt. We hunted from what I call the “old tower” blind located in pollinator field with good access. At sunset this 8 point buck came into range and I gave him permission to harvest his first M/L deer, which I estimated to be a very nice yearling. The deer had a live weight just north of 160#. In September he harvested his first archery deer, a nice doe.

Great deer! Congrats to him!

nice horms for a yearling. Is that the same gun that misfired on the senior hunt?

Different gun, but same model. We sighted in my son's gun o afternoon and got in some practice that paid off. He made a good double lung/shoulder shot.

Yes, it was a very nice yearling. I passed on this deer (and several other young bucks) this season.
