Saving Plots - Thoughts?

Any words of wisdom on best plan of action for poor annual brassica plots?

I am in Ohio we have been DRY (like worst ever) this summer. Finally got some rain and we are getting some growth but we have about 2 ac of plots of radish/turnips/kale that are very thin.

My 'plan' was to overseed rye and wheat (mostly rye), maybe some more radish, and then run our disc cutting as light as possible. Then pack. Hoping we can not dammage the current growth too much but get alot more green stuff!

Pic shows current condition and we are only about 4-6 weeks from first frost of year.

You have enough dirt showing that a good broadcast of rye/wheat will be as good as you could hope for if you get some timely rains.

I agree I would leave disc out of plot it will harm as much as it helps. I bet 50 pounds an acre of wheat would fill in nicely before a rain, if you could keep birds/turkeys from eating it all for a week or so it would help a great deal.

I would lightly disc to cover the seed and throw some clover and chicory with the rye myself. jmo
