Sale on 41% glyphosate at Menards

Turkey Creek

5 year old buck +
2.5 gallons of 41% glyphosate is $40 after there 11% rebate at Menards with their current sale. I have used the brand they are selling for over a year and it seems to work just fine.

I don’t see it online unfortunately and my nearest one is 2 hours away

That's a good price, thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I actually saw that, but I assumed that was one of the small home use jugs.

May need to add surfactant to that mix, didn't see it listed on the jug.

Can you just use dish soap, or donyounhave to buy surfactant?
I've normally always bought the gly with surfactant added at TSC or Co-Op. I do have surfactant in a gallon jug I use for spraying buckthorn. I've heard of guys using a squirt of dish soap but I haven't used it.

thanks!

At lunch I went and got a couple jugs.

Surfactant lowers the surface tension of water. It makes the water (and herbicide with it) flatten out on the waxy leaves instead of rolling off the leaves like the waxy surface is repelling it.

image is swiped via google, showing what a surfactant does. You'll find coments like "a surfactant makes water wetter", which sounds silly, but is sorta true. Without a surfactant, more of your herbicide will roll off the leaves and fall to the ground.

Using dish soap is fine. The stuff bottled as surfactant is just cheaper, if you need a lot of it.

Some surfactants also act as penetrants. Quality surfactant is one reason name brand herbicides cost more. If you want to go as cheap as you can, buy your herbicides cheap and spend a bit more on a quality surfactant.

Actually didn’t know some gly has surfactant. I do always use AMS, think that helps performance a ton. Usually add it via running it in on a cheap kitchen strainer and running water through it. Hat tip to @Buckhunter10 for that idea.

Most of the kinda generic gly I see around here have "plus" added to the name when they have surfactant already added. Such as Cornerstone Plus or Buccaneer Plus.
