If not spraying huge acreage ams supreme liquid seems to be easiest way.

I killed my bag of dry off yesterday! I bet it’s been in my shed 10 years. I’ll try the liquid for sure!

List of herbicides I use and rates I use. Compiled over time from labels, reading, advice, and mostly trial and error. Always read label and follow before using

The triclopyr, escort, milestone, veteran, and transline I use for my battle with kudzu and are highest label rates. Not to be used for other things at that rate.

Herbicides

*Clethodim 8-16oz/acre or 1oz/gallon
Consider mixing small amount of
glyphosate for clover
*Glyphosate. 2-3 quarts/acre or 4oz/gallon
*Triclopyr. 3-4 quarts/acre or 8oz/gallon
*Simazine. 2-4 quarts/acre or 5oz/gallon...

So I find you have to kind of see what you have.

If you have thick thick grass, throw small seeds like clover and brassica, then cut grass on top of it, the thatch layer can be too thick for the small seeds.

@Crimson n' Camo says he would often mow once late summer to lessen that thatch. Then at planting time throw seed then mow again. If he didn’t do that first mowing weeks before planting, the thatch layer could just be too thick.

I started mowing about mid summer really to lessen the amount of standing biomass I had to deal with come planting time.....It was getting to where I was having to go in and mow stuff that was way over the height of the tractor come planting time.......Late June or early July seemed to be a good time to do it because it gave some time for the stuff I mowed to break down and give me about half the regrowth that I would have had.....Also, it doesnt hurt to have a nice new flush of growth coming back for the deer to browse on versus plants that are becoming less and less palatable
