Ravin vs 10 Point? What model

I love mine, no regrets. I would say just as accurate as a slug gun, but it won’t travel through brush like a slug can. The lighted nocks are tricky, but if you buy the tool that they sell that is made for it, and pulling out the bolts, it works well.

When you site it in, use a multiple target target, and don’t double up on bolts into the target, or you will be buying new bolts. Yes, at 35 yards, they are that accurate.

I just struck a deal on a lightly used r10. This is a friend of mine that bought it last year hoping to hunt archery season and just never found the time. It has only been sighted in them put back in the case.
$850 with case and sling. Just what I was after!

That’s way to do it. I bought both of mine used. Most people buy them and shoot less than 10 times.

Is the newer x series worth the extra money?
Thought about just going with the original discounted r10
In my opinion yes.

I have a ravin r10 and my dad bought one this year as well. They are great bows and are extremely accurate.

I don’t think you can get a better xbow.

I will say that I don’t like their lighted nocks since they are hard to turn off, so I just use the standard factory issued nocks now.

The rage crossbow broadheads fly like field points with my r10, so I’d recommend them if you like expandables.
I switched to Firenocks and Black Eagle Executioners.

I think the newer ones have become too small and have poor ergonomics.

I think mine is a R9

I have the Raven R10. An absolute dart thrower. Took my 1st deer with it at 45 yards. Complete pass through heart shot. Very accurate.

My local dealer said that he was having so many problems with the Ravins string that he was recommending other models. He said several bows had exploded and several others would be stressed too much after one season to trust for another season. I was only shopping but he is very experienced and still said Ravins are badass but should restring yearly. I couldn't see the extra expense of yearly restringing so I went with 10X but I wonder if he was accurate considering the happy customers on this thread?

I can tell you after 2 years my strings scared me. They don’t do a good job marketing it but there are timing marks on the cams. If your strings are not between them it’s time to figure out why. Last year I replaced the strings and then removed them and let the bow down 4 weeks later. Put them back on this year and they were perfect.

Forgot to do that this year and I’ll replace them next year. I haven’t tried them but I read that there are some good aftermarket strings available. So far that’s the only weak spot I’ve found. Other than that it’s a thing of beauty when you pull the trigger. So if you’re buying one figure the cost of the Ravin press in. Their press lets you remove the strings completely and let the limbs rest. Which is a what all bows need IMO.

How does one acquire a press?

I have changed my string once. It’s been two years. My friend bought a used one and it exploded. I he had it resting and seems ok last I heard.

He was glad it did it when he wasn’t in the blind. ( He had left it cocked).

I noticed while Cyber Monday shopping last night that Midway USA sells a crossbow press. (I am not suggesting anything about quality or price but they do list them). Because new crossbows have such a short limb span I would do my research because many presses would not work
