Radish or Dock?

Just planted a food plot and have these growing. Unsure if it’s the radish I planted or dock

Damn 😂

That’s what I thought but I was hopeful

But it does look like your radishes are coming up too.

Tell me about this dock stuff. I get some of it in the wetter parts of my plots but it doesn't seem to spread much. Is it a major problem in other parts of the country?

I've got it here/there on some of the overgrown fields that I'm converting to food plots. I'll get a little pushing up through my clover in perennial plots but typically just mow them back before they go to seed. I can't say it is a major problem at my place (at least yet) but I do see it pretty often on my property here in PA.

That's pretty much my experience; see it here-n-there with some pushing through my clover. I don't want to ignore it if it'll turn into a pain in the a@@ though.

Yeah, I will mow it before it develops a seed head but other than that I'm not going out of my way go get it. If it looks like it's becoming a problem I suppose I'll change my tune

I have a big problem with it in Norway. My plots are pretty soggy compared to North America, and that seems to be a factor. The roots store an incredible amount of energy once they are established. And they produce a lot of seeds, every year. A dense patch of dock will have nothing growing under it.

I can't mow these plots, so I weedwhip and spot spray. They will just keep putting out new leaves until they're exhausted. Timing herbicide is difficult for me.

My advice is to get after it while it's young and trying to establish itself. And don't let it produce seeds.

We have dock too. It's a seed machine, so best to spot spray if you don't want more of it. Hammer it while you only have a few.
