Pruning at time of planting

Volk field station on WU said 1.05" which is only a mile or two from our place. I'm going to check my gauge tomorrow.
My dad dumped 1 and 3/8" today. Also said my foodplots had tons of germination. Hope they can survive the heat wave and don't burn up.

I am...so far I'm very impressed. I was sick of getting 18" of growth on new grafts and thought I'd try the tubes this year. Most were in 4' tubes (supplier was out of 5' when I ordered this spring) to start, but after finding that most all of my Dunstans were dead I took the 5' tubes off them and put them on the grafts. The average height of those I did (about a dozen) has to be right around 4'. Winter will be the true test I imagine.

When do you plan to remove the tubes?
