I could never get anything to eat them. They literally rot down to a skeleton wherever I throw them. I have a lot of photos of possums and coyotes eating bait at the same time.

Do coyotes eat possums?

They are opportunists and will kill all kinds of small mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians given the chance.
