Planting apple trees in August?

I want to plant a apple tree or two in our yard and was wondering if you could plant them in August? I would be able to water it and my only concern would be it wouldn't survive winter because it hasn't got it roots established good enough. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I planted a few last week and will plant again this coming week. As long as they are watered I believe you will be fine. All of my first year grafted trees from last year survived the past very very cold winter

water, water, water. Keeping them alive thru the stress of the heat is your biggest issue in my opinion. Protect them and support them well and they should do fine.

Just remember August is a cooler month than July on average and I planted a bunch of trees in July that are doing fine with mostly rain except for the first week they were planted. Key in my opinion is a good whole to plant and use the soil that was in the container with the tree. Yes and water water water if you can. It won't hurt lol
