orders for spring

keets

5 year old buck +
picked my supplier out for spring order, going with Midwest deer trees out of MN, I need more late droppers so I went with all crabs. courthouse ,swamp donkey, big timber, wild azz, kerr, yellow belly, holy crab, buckman, no bull. Anybody with experience that can add good or bad about these? I'm in way north central WI, almost to the edge of zone 3 on some maps

guess I'll stick with this

Courthouse, buckman and Kerr are great choices. I don’t have the other varieties listed though, so I can’t offer any feedback on those.

St Lawrence nursery in New York has an all winter hangover variety that is a good late dropped as well.

I have Kerr, but still a young tree. Looks like good choices !

I went with Holy Crab and Swamp Donkey , 4 trees total . Didn't want to go too crazy, until I see how they do this far south in zone 7.
I have a few trees coming from Blue Hill (excited to try their late dropper winter deer pear) and a Few trees from Whitetail Crabs as well.

I had a few apples on my Courthouse Crab this year and the last time I checked the mother tree, it still had a slow drop.

I had a few crabs on Yellow Belly for the first time and Midwest tells me that his workers like to eat them. I forgot to check them later. I think he told me mid October to taste one.

Wild Azz is a hardy tree that I have watched for decades. I tasted a few one time and would not eat another. The mother tree is about 1 mile from my house. Memory tells me it has probably survived near -40 in a very exposed location.

IMG_1518.jpegBuckman crab at about 4 PM last night. Deer were checking out quite a few trees then and again later at midnight.

This is not the mother tree. A friend grafted this tree on B 118 for me.

Mother tree is outback and I need to put on snowshoes and check it.

At 4 AM this morning they were napping at the edge of the yard.IMG_1525.jpeg

Hopefully you hear something today. Orders are now on hold until Monday.
I don't know if I believe the counts . It now shows 10 Holy crabs . When they first went on sale they had 30 , AND started with 26 Swamp Donkeys , now shows 9. You'd think he'd be wiped out already with the amount of orders vs low amount of stock they had. For Example on Instagram I saw a old post from Whitetail Crabs showing a row of 300 Droptines .

If I needed more trees I would definitely order from midwest deer.

I've been eyeing what folks post on here about their own trees you have on order. You'll be happy. Big dog would be a nice addition to the list.

I might be changing my order from mehrabyan. But got (3) farklin ciders on B118. ten G890 rootstocks, ten antonovka, ten P18 rootstock, four m111, and three onf87 pear rootstocks. Gving B118 a decent test at camp. G890's are for home. Antonovka and P18 are half for camp half as gifts. Grafting more or less what you purchased.

How was shipping charges from midwest?

I'm in Virginia , not exactly close. Shipping was $45.00 , Plus Tax and fees of $22.81

In comparison shipping from Blue Hill was $29.64 I THINK Whitetail crabs shipping was $40
