Old Fashion'ed

Foggy47

5 year old buck +
So.....recently I became to like "old fashioned" drinks over beer even. grin. Now, I am a bit fussy on my drink of choice. I do not like the really strong drinks that some of the mixes provide. Rather I enjoy the Costco mix which incluedes the bitters and the sugar. But...here is the key. Add some BROWN SUGAR either in cubes or in powder.....AND....USE THE CORRECT CHERRIES when you muddle the sugar and the Cheries. The RIGHT cherries are non-other than those made by LUXARDO MARACHINO CHERRIES. Do not be fooled by any other. Those Luxardo cherries are the difference between make or break it. No questions asked. Yeah...they are expensive. (($20.00 / jar) But you are worth it....and a jar goes a long way. ....unless you are serving one to Sandburr (Art). Give him the cheap ones....he wont know the difference. Grin.

Try it...and you may never go back to beer again. Promise.

I prefer my Old Fashion with Southern Comfort, Angostura bitters, maple syrup, and sour for the mixer. Big olives for the groceries, if there's room.

My folks were old fashion connoisseurs and even when my mom was sick, she'd make exceptions to her strict diet for an old fashion.

I grew up in southeastern WI where more often than not you went to a local tavern for a Friday fish fry, my folks would order old fashions and my sister and I would get "kidde cocktails". We'd each get $1 worth of quarters to play songs on the jukebox or Pac-Man on the arcade game.

Brandy old fashion sour, with bitters and maraschino cherries. I do prefer to drink beer but when I get classy, I'll have one or two.

Me and the mrs usually order old fashioneds when out for a decent dinner. I wouldn’t say I’m a connoisseur but enjoy some more than others. With bulliet rye is good. The only ones I’ve really not liked are the hosers who put freakin soda water in them! Immediate thumbs down.

I like a Manhattan. Sometimes in the summer I'll mix it up with an Old Fashioned or a Wisky Smash.

I'm partial to malt whisky, so there's usually at least a portion of that in the mix.

Try some Filthy Cherries if you want to step it up another notch.
