These are growing near a parking lot where i was working, produce heavy and seem to bear young, the smallest tree in the pic produced. I gathered some up to try to grow.

Sorry - I would need a close up pic of the leaf to be much help.

Need leaf ,as J- bird says , otherwise hard to say

Perhaps Shumard as they seem to be very popular choices to be planted in urban lots, etc

They are heavy producers in east texas

ok thanks, i'll try to get a leaf friday.

An idea of it's location will help as well. More than likely it was planted there so it could be a lot of things, but a leaf will really help point us in the right direction. Get pics of a couple in a flattened manner if possible as sometimes the leaves vary even on the same tree and some will be more representative of it's type than others......if that makes sence.

Looks like shumard.

I forgot to get a leaf, ill try to remember monday, the trees are in centre county pa.

Centre County ??? Where at in Centre ?? Anywhere near PSU ?? Bellefonte ??

I never did get leaves for identifying, but i have a few sprouting, this one must be twins.

Kinda looks like chestnut oak, except for the pointy tips. Do sawtooth leaves look like that?

I did some searching and the acorns (at least the caps) don't look right for sawtooth.
