Newbie Land Tour

Had to get a little help from my little man to operate the tractor while mom was up in the bucket trimming back her shooting lane a little. 100% OSHA approved work environment.

Milwaukee battery pole saw with extension. I'm getting too old to take chances with the acrobatics.

In East Texas , this scene is preceded with....... " hold my beer......."

I've got my sights set on the 6 this year and my wife has been targeting the wide 8 in the background. She's had 4 run-ins with him in 4 sits so far this year. Fingers crossed she gets it done soon.

Still having doe hitting the fields in droves - I think it should be a fun place so sit in a couple weeks when the boys start chasing.

I had a funny video of this young 8 trying to push around the 6pt. His rack barely fit around the neck of the 6 and it looked like me trying to push my pickup truck. Ol' fella didn't move an inch.

Fresh bloodtrail = happy time! Pics when you find it .....

Wife knocked down a good one for the second year in a row!

Her dad (who’s a whitetail legend in my book & a damn good taxidermist) was able to come over to help track. Double lung & the deer was found 50yds. It was extra special to be able to share the event with him & our son! Got some great pictures of the 3 generations with this deer.

This ol fella was an absolute brute. He was likely nearing 250lb on the hoof. I’m glad I didn’t have much dragging to do. His body size is deceiving to his headgear, 19.5” inside spread.

Congratulations to your wife. Looks like a tank!
The deer, not your wife.

Congratulations to Mrs Newbie. That’s a great trophy in PA.

wohoo! Newbs!!! Congrats to your wife and family. I knew it was coming, happy for you!!

Big-time congrats to your wife and you, pal !! That's the big 6 from the pics, right? What a beast!! 19.5 inside is a dandy for any Pa. hunter. Gotta show us the taxi / finished wall mount when it's done. Food plots feed 'em big!

Processed a whole lot of venison today. The ol man will be enjoyed for months to come.

Also, transplanted a pine sapling to the food plot edge to hopefully entice a few visitors to a rub/scrape. The field gets tons of activity but hoping to something of a destination for the buck to visit on their way in for some more predicable travel.

Exclusion cages is showing the amount of browse pressure his field has been getting.

I will def share when it is finished. My father in law aged the deer today when processing the head/hide at 4.5yr old.

She got hers from last year back a few months ago. It’s now hanging in our son’s bedroom.

Your little Pine tree is doomed 🥲

Get a post hole digger and put a cedar trunk there. Then hang stuff from it. A grape vine, rope, better yet find a scrap branch were you don’t need it and transplant it. It will be a destination tomorrow.
