RAM TRADESMAN is a plain version.

Do you own one? (before I say bad things? lol)

We got a handful of Ram ProMaster vans at work this summer. Legitimately had things falling off one of them the second day. Vans are never great for driver/passenger comfort but these things are shockingly bad. Over all build quality in them is just sad. I expect these things to be a constant source of grief for the rest of my time there.

What's with all those stupid rubber duckies on the jeep dashes? If I had a jeep I'd be selling it.

That's not a "Jeep thing", it's more a "new Jeep thing", especially a "new Jeep with a female owner" thing. lol
It's expanded as well, I see them in things like Broncos and other similar small SUV's.

Same people I avoid eye contact with lest they to wave to me.

Those damned sensors is why safelite wont replace ours at our house and we need to bring them in.

Must be a local manager etc. They do ours right here at the house. That really stinks.

To the OP - I know toyota had a lot of negative feedback on build quality and reliability of their early runs of the current generation. They've had a few years now, hopefully theyve got most of it sorted? The prior gen reliability and depreciation is certainly a big selling point and why i thought i wanted one of the new ones.

There is nothing cooler than a jeep set up the right way, covered in dust, manual transmission looking like its never had a top on it.

Guys with a perfect beard driving one with punisher stickers and stupid pointless accessories back and forth to a trendy gym…. Not so much.

Kidding. We owned an outback for a while. Honestly was a great vehicle. Sold with like 130k on with zero issues.

No one's ever left a duck on my Jeep. At least not as far as I know. They could have fallen through the big rust holes in the floor, or fenders or....

someone having 400K miles on a 2002 Tundra is worthless info to apply to a 2026.

I wish more people on the internet understood that. Applies to cars, chainsaws, guns and just about everything else.

Mostly when I drive it, women come up to me in the Costco parking lot and tell me how hot it is that an obviously employed, clean shaven man with a good haircut and no tattoos would drive such a practical and maintenance free four cylinder. They would be all over me if I was single.

That’s what I’ve been reading and hearing also.
The resale on them is impressive they do seem to hold their value decent. I think Toyota is the #1 vehicles in the world as far as most popular and most sold.
Not sure if the truck I get will be my last one but it sure could be, I’m retiring soon so won’t be putting a lot of miles on whatever I get.
I just want a dependable good looking truck, and I’m sure I’ll be throwing a few add on aftermarket things on it to get it the way I want.

I never even considered a Ram due to issues buddies have had and the resale not being great. With the tight backseat room and some of the recent issues it looks like GM is off the list. And I’m not interested in diesel at all.

Tundra and F150 were the only ones i considered a couple years ago when shopping. The tundras probably hold value better still but I just didnt like it as much. I've put close to a half million miles on 2010-2022 F150s and never have done a single thing beyond brakes and fluid/filter changes. Maybe one re-alignment? I've read of problems but never experienced them.

I just looked, The cheapest version of a 4x4 Tradsman has a starting price of $44,425 and I'm pretty sure that doesn't include the
$2,595 Destination Fee.

My next one probably won't be a Chevy. I might also consider a Toyota, would have to ride in one to know how comfortable the seats are. When we drive anywhere it tends to be a 30 min to 5 hr drive. Chevy transmissions have become a seemingly never ending problem at our house (no we don't abuse them), my wife got a Traverse last year when we traded the Suburban in, thought it was a comfortable ride for about the first week and now I hate driving it or riding in it. Super uncomfortable seats and the elbow resting spots suck as well.

If you own a Jeep and get "Ducked" you got a cool modded Jeep. It's kinda a thing with some Jeep owners.....just like the Jeep Wave.....but the Duck thing got a bit carried away....IMO. I had a nice Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in OZ....and had lots of mod's I did to it...with aftermarket bumpers, winch, side sliders, skid plates, a lift kit, oversized tires and special wheels and so much more. It was not a "Mall Queen" but rather we drove many interesting trails in the mountains (and rocks) in AZ. Super capable vehicle on most any terrain....and while we did not take chances.....we did drive some hair-raising trails in that rig. It had much of the right stuff....and we used most of its capabilities in OZ and in Utah. So many places to go there...and so much fun. It is a test of your equipment and will....but as said....we stayed resonablely sane in our travels.

I put allot of time and energy into that Jeep....and it was a very special ride for us. I got "Ducked" allot if I was parked in a big lot. I did trade it last fall....as my wife and I are now likely to "frail" to get into trouble in the back country. Not sure my wife would survive a walk out of a deep canyon or off the side of a mountain.....and not sure I want into that anymore either. On any risky trail....we always traveled in a group of others.....but it was time for the Jeep experience to end (for us). Glad we did that....and had allot of fun....but that backcountry stuff becomes a young mans game.

I did like getting Ducked....but it became kinda stoopid....after a while. Now....it's dumb.

I've owned various 4x4 pickups and Suburbans and other HD SUV's over many years. Some were good....others were too large or not otherwise a nice ride or too high or too this or that. I did really like my Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland....until the problems with the air ride and transmission and and and....showed up at 100K. Had super tow and creature comforts and a great ride...nice size too. But that experience really soured me on the brand. Swore off Jeeps after that. (but did buy a new Wrangler Rubicon later...in spite of my misgivings).

If you do NOT need the extra pulling power, or load carrying ability but rather a great daily driver with some abiltiy to haul "normal" stuff.....I'd say you need a HONDA RIDGELINE for the win. Have owned one since the new model came out in 2017. It's been flawless....and I get as much as 25 MPG at 75 mph travel. Average over 22 mpg in combined driving. Nice ride, pulls reasonable loads.....but not a HD stump puller. It gets though most snow and off road conditions....but I do not test the limits much. It's not a Jeep. As I tell others...... It's a "gentleman's pickup".

Mine only has 75 k miles now....and I put some cross country Michelin tires on recently.....and those suckers are fantastic. I'd like to trade for something newer...with better camera's and sensors and self drive characteritics......but nothing is better than my current ride at this time. I may wait for Honda to come up to speed on some of their technology gear. Mine is good....but there is better out there. I do not need more load carrying ability than I got. If I ever do....I will rent a bigger truck for a few days. Why herd a monster truck around every day??? I can't beleive the way some folks waste their money on those oversized trucks. My 2 cents.

The rust issues with ford and GM are a negative for me.
The back seat leg room in the crew cab ford and tundra are a positive. GM crew cab back seat leg room is a negative.
Nice interior in the GM and Ford are a positive. Toyota is not as nice.
All of them are stupid expensive that is a negative that I can do nothing about.
All the new 4x4 crew cabs look pretty much the same to me right now.
I do like the flat…tan, green, gray and black colors.
All the crazy new controls and gadgets are confusing to me and just stuff that can go wrong, I like simple.

You didn't even mention the best, Ram! Ram has the best interior and creature comforts of any of them. I like the F150 next....

I’ve heard the same….but, bought a brand new Chevy Cruze in 2014 with turbo for a work car. Thing gets almost 40 mpg, it is still going strong with over 257K miles on it now.
I’ve never had an issue with it, just oil changes and tire changes has been only expense over the years.
And I’ve heard terrible reviews on them, I got lucky with mine.

I have a friend that had a Chevy Trax that uses the same turbo 4. Under a 100k and the turbo was failing. Then a few weeks later he had me come over to see if I could figure out why it wouldn't turn over. Before we started on it, he checked the coolant and muttered "yup, still full". My heart sank at that. I asked for clarification. He said it had been loosing coolant, even when parked, and now it wouldn't turn over.

So I warned him is probably a failed head gasket, head, or cracked block allowing coolant into the cylinders & hydrolocking it. Then I told him the first thing we're doing is removing the spark plugs and then trying to crank it over. That sprayed coolant all over the driveway. We put the plugs back in and he junked the car.

Not a Ram fan at all and the resale on them is unimpressive. Couple of my buddies have also had a lot of mechanical issues with them.
Friend of mine was driving his brand new Ram home from the dealership and went to move the air vent towards him better and all the little louvre’s just fell out onto the floor.

I’m the same way with the Honda, never even considered one but for different reasons. I just don’t like the look of them at all they seem like toy trucks. They do hold their money though and hold up well. They just seem like yuppie trucks.
