New Hope Creek Coop, year 5

356

5 year old buck +
Nice shade trees and a steady breeze offset the heat as we enjoyed the 5th annual New Hope Creek Deer Coop gathering on our farm. The meeting was a great success with nearly 20 landowners representing about 1600 acres gathering to discuss all things Whitetail, while enjoying venison slam burgers, my wife's amazing bean hot dish and a variety of garden fresh fruit from neighboring farms. The consensus is that the deer herd has improved since the coop started. One of the ironies is that we are all running cameras and after the same buck, a deer that is becoming a local legend.

It was fun sharing stories of the hunt and discovering who saw, shot or missed a target buck. Goals for doe harvest are up this year, and a desire to further our focus on a balanced harvest & herd is encouraging. Special thanks to Cole Gander, Northern Missouri's Deer Outreach Specialist for being our speaker.
