Need help with cultipacker?

I made a cultipacker out of some culvert and when I roll my plot, if the soil is damp, the clay packs into the groves and makes a big high spot in the middle. I was thinking about welding some metal so that it fits in the groves or using some kind of heavy broom to sweep the groves clean as I drive around. Has anyone made a device to clean the grooves from the cultipacker? Thanks

Fancier cultipackers come with scrappers. MEtal is going to work better than broom. Might be able to get away with wood for a few years.

Most cultipacker wheels can go up and down by an inch or so. If the cultipacker is in good shape and on a flat surface, they all should up at the highest spot.

Angle iron with the tip of the V pointing backward should do ok. Sandwiching pieces of 2x4 like a picket fence would work too. Might have to put the wood between two bars or use some decent washers.

The same roblem happen with disc cultivators too. You can use ieces of chain between the discs. Discs also have scrappers as an option too.

If its that wet n nasty, you could just use ATV tires or tractor tries and roll everything in.

You doing no-till with this when it happened? Or, leveling up a plot after tillage?

I have the Packer Maxx cultipacker and it has a bar similar to what bigboreblr is describing. I've had no issues.

I think if you've got clay sticking to your packer, you shouldn't be out packing.
