Narrow Grain Drill

West Branch

5 year old buck +
My dad is working on this project. Found a grain drill in good shape and it had the right configuration to split. Sorry no pics of work when being done. It is a bit under 8 ft with the tires.

There will be a 2nd one being made and going up for sale ;) probably won't be done till later in the summer.

I have an 8' Internatioanl McCormic that I need a couple of simple parts for. Where are you guys getting your parts?

I have one local guy Who was referred to me that I need to call but I'f you know of someone let me know.

Thanks.

I thought everyone has rock piles that they collect old equipment on so they always have parts for all sorts of projects :p. He hasn't needed to order anything yet, but my dad has done tractor and equipment repairs for people on the side in the past, these are a couple places that I know of for ordering parts:

In Harris north of the cities:

Salvage yard in Western MN:

A couple places that are online and do shipping:

Thanks, you can't have enough resources for stuff. Now if I only had more time to get my work done. I want to use the drill for cereal grains, grasses and soybeans. I need to make this a priority now that I have a tractor to pull the unit.

Thanks again.

W B. Have you considered making those drills into units with a 3 point hitch? ....rather than pull-type. That way you could maneuver them into tight spots without a worry about turning around. For small planters and drills....tight spaces can be a major PITA.

(or perhaps you plan to pull them with a 4 wheeler?)

It will probably be pulled by a 4 wheeler in most spots. My brother has a bigger (~12ft) grain drill that we can use in most more open areas. I did tell my dad that the 2nd one getting sold might be better as a 3 point. He is a bit stubborn, but I may convince him yet.

Called and asked if they thought of doing a 3 pt... they did not and both drills are planting ready! I underestimated those old farts getting the 2nd one done so soon. I will get some pictures of the finished product soon and get it listed for sale. If anyone is interested let me know.
