My tiny shed to cabin project

Now I just gotta get rid of the moles digging up my yard.....
Let me know when you find that sure cure. I just switched from traps to poison. No small kids or pets so poison doesn’t worry me.

The way that poison works is like this...they are attracted to the bait and eat it. Once they have eaten it, it is a powerful blood thinner that causes massive internal bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract ( their guts ). Due to the hypovolemia ( lowering blood pressure ) and GI discomfort, they immediately try to seek out water as they become very thirsty.
even when the bait station is located within a building, as long as you don’t have any readily available water source, they will exit and go to the nearest known water source. For example, we have them in the basement and if I don’t keep the sump pump pit covered, every damn mouse that eats the stuff will be floating in the pit. Even went and got a minnow net to scoop em out with.

Also, the half life of that stuff is not real long once ingested, so if a mouse eats it and croaks, then your dog chews on him, maybe even swallows him, the dog shouldn‘t have received a high enough dose to greatly affect them. However, if your dog straight up eats the poison...lead foot it to the vet and get treatment immediately!

A friend of mine's dog did just that. The vet recommended hydrogen peroxide to make him throw up the poison. They put it in his bowl and like a good dog he ate it, and promptly threw up the poison. Lucky dog owner!

Same here Bill. Little bastards shit in my bed and chewed a hole in my sheets. MO mice like to be comfy.
Haha! There’s a living quarters in my shop at my north MO farm and it’s overrun with mice. My buddy’s dad works in commercial pest control. He brought up a box of green pellets, 6 of the heavy brick weighted bait stations and 12 of the smaller ones. We can’t keep them filled we kill so many mice.

Are you keeping the grass around the shop mowed? I went through a lot of poison for the first few years but it’s tapered off lately.

For the border, 1/2 is gravel and the other 1/2 is pasture. We only started poisoning two deer seasons ago. We didn’t reload them this turkey season unfortunately.

Yeah, gotta keep them full. I make a special trip in January with the main reason being to refill the poison.
War is War!

I made some decent improvements last weekend at the cabin.

1. Added Solar/DC system
2. Made a little path area for cooking out
3. Got my first tractor and bush hogged around cabin.
4. Improved my farmers tan

Does anyone spray around their building with a pesticide for ticks? I was overran with those little bastards.

A good start to paradise ... :emoji_wink:

That is impressive. I like the fire pit!

What's the gizmo that your phone's plugged into?

it's a car/ marine rocker panel. I took an electrical box and used a jig saw to make an opening for panel. It's nice as I get a voltage meter, usb charger, and cigarette connector so I can run a small 200 watt inverter to charge a laptop. I also get a bunch of available on/ off switches for electical devices if I wanted to wire them. I thought the voltage meter would tell me my battery life, but I am discovering voltage can change quite a bit under load. Then after load is off and it sits for a few hours the voltage will go back up. so I am not really sure it's accurate.

Keep the grass low and the ticks don’t like it.

Very cool. I love my solar system. It looks like you're well on your way with yours.

Looks really nice. I can appreciate all the work put in!

Lookin great!
Spray permethrin on your yard for ticks.

Got some work done at the cabin last week. I installed a Chinese diesel heater as my heat source. I did my first attempt at planting some buck wheat last month, and it appears to have grown fairly well. It was more a test run for next year as I ended up bush hogging it anyways. I will attempt to plant winter rye around labor day.
