My Caliber is Dead

5 year old buck +
After the 2024 scope post, I looked at mounts for my browning BLR in 450 marlin. Have a 1-6x burris AR red dot to put on it, but need 30mm rings. Looked at browning's site if the 450 marlin is long or short action. No longer made...... Marlin's website, only 45-70. Sold my reloading stuff in 2020. Got about 15 boxes of factory hornady ammo. Might be time to rethink calibers. Im assuming 450 legend is stealing the big bore market share.

Bad c7 disc in my neck, it might be time to trade in the old old shoulder cannon. Might just get a 2nd rifle in 308 or a 6.5 creedmore.

I see some ammo listed on Ammoseek.

Hornady usually releases their LeverEvolution ammo once a year. I was looking for some 35 Remington a year or two ago, and learned it usually releases this time of year. Get it while it's in stock. It's still listed on their website.

If we're being honest, it was DOA.

Yeah I know. Wanted a stainless steel lever gun in 2008. Saw her on gunboker for $650.

I call it the staple gun. Love shootin deer with it, don't look all that forward to bringing it to the range though. I only shoot it leaning against a tree, no bench for me.

I was building a 458 socom to replace it in 2011 when NY dropped the safe act down. Eotech 517 ontop 18 inch barrel. That woulda been a nice stalk rifle there for the adirondacks.

No reason you still can't. A fixed mag AR for deer hunting wouldn't be bad at all. That's about the one time / place it wouldn't be an issue.

I know a guy who hunts with a fixed mag AR10 in 6.5CM.

Might have to take a peek at 450 legend. That work in the AR15? Not sure of the ballistics. IF I can hit 150 with accuracy, itll do fine. Might be even better matching ballistics of the muzzleloader too. Then only need to know 1 trajectory.

There's a 350 legend and a 400 legend. I've hunted with the 350, and I think it's really nice for shorter ranges. Apparently the 400 is the new improved version. I'd probably go for that if I was buying a rifle for a straight walled cartridge.

450 bushmaster is popular around my part of Ohio since straightwall became legal for deer. I'm unimpressed with performance of my 350 legend on deer and wishing I had gone to 450 bushmaster.
