Minnesota blues

Angus 1895

5 year old buck +
So I got this meowing rant about Minnesota deer hunting.

Why do non residents have to pay $185 for each weapon/ season?

Why not sell a buck tag then $25 per season.

It freaking is a bummer.

But $185 a weapon? And only one buck?

In Idaho you buy a tag for a buck. Then the archery and muzzle loader permit is about $17 a piece.

Idaho has some great hunting, so hunting in most areas of Minnesota would probably be a letdown!

MN should at least bundle their gun/muzzle loader tags together like WI does so you don't have to pay twice if you're unsuccessful and want to keep hunting. Basically since it's one tag you're getting triple charged (archery/gun/muzzle) if you aren't successful.

Arkansas NR 3 day deer license for one deer is $175

Yeah, it’s $556 to hunt deer as a NR in Idaho.

In Idaho you get a hunting permit, small game included.

You can hunt deer archery, rifle, shotgun and perhaps even muzzleloader.

And you can fish for at least a week.

So in Minnesota to do the same it’s ($185 Archery $ 185 firearm) plus $102 small game, plus the fishing. Plus ($185) if you want muzzleloader.

Each doe is $95 or so.

eh, consider it a donation and keep moving.

I think I paid almost $400 for a NR WV license, extra tag, and a bear tag on Monday.

Didn't see anything but squirrels.

It's t he way of the road, bubs.

$500 for me to deer and turkey hunt in ky and I pay more in property taxes than 99% of my immediate local neighbors
Haven’t see a single nonresident balk at it yet so I guess keep on keep on if your the state

They finally raised NR licenses in Ohio. $180.96 for license $218.40 either-sex deer permit, I would like to see them double it, license and tags.

I kind of look at it like you dont have to go to another state to hunt. I wish our state would triple the cost of waterfowl licenses and cut it to about ten days a year. On residents have taken over the public ground. They drive lease prices up. They drive land prices up. Yes, that is good for the fortunate ones who own the choice duck land, but horrible for the everyday AR duck hunter

They make you buy a standard hunting license that 95% of people aren't going to use to buy the $351'ish deer license. Non-Residents also rarely hunt multiple weapons seasons. I'd sure take a $180 gun tag with no archery, muzzleloader, fishing, or small game opportunities included over $561 with all that stuff. ID prices aren't the worst, they are better than MT and I'd rather have a ID deer tag than a MT deer tag. I'm just saying, MN is cheap in comparison for how most NRs would hunt. For a guy like you with roots in MN who might come back more frequently, it's definitely less convenient.

If Minnesota moved their gun season back two weeks, it would become a destination for serious archery guys …

A strict one buck limit would help too ! Lots of lost potential in Minnesota !

That would definitely help and attract some additional archery attention but WI is still a pretty good draw for those guys. Would need to get better in most of the state for people to want to come here over WI.

Why sell it toNR for $25 when residents need to pay $35?

5x for NR doesn’t seem too bad to me when I consider the tax burden in property taxes and income taxes we pay as residents. Fraud is the added mess.

So here is the reason I’m meowing. I bought some Flemish strings for my Excalibur bow.

They stretched a bunch. So I left the bow in the apartment im staying.

If only I took the time to put the old string on…….AArrgh!

Went to the Farm I was floating teeth at and we had a long day.

On the way out six deer , including a horned up 2.5 year old buck was chasing around…easily within the range of my Ruger Blackhawk in
45 LC.

I was in area 601

No freaking tag!!!

This morning I restrung it with the old string….but this storm has the deer laying low .

I got a few days off…….hopefully I can pull it off without buying two tags.

For this lapse in positive thinking I blame Gov. Walz!
