When I change batteries in a cam that has gone dead, I have been bringing the batteries home and checking them individually with a volt meter. What I'm finding is that it is common for one or two batteries to go dead and the others still be just fine. This can save a lot of money.
I've also found that batteries which seem weak in my old Reconyx cameras will do just fine for a longer time in Brownings. I'm just trying to think of all angles to save some money.
I have two different solar cameras at home (two different brands from Amazon) that are working flawlessly now for months. Both are in a place where they get good sunlight, which might be an issue if placed in the woods. At the edge of a woods facing south should be fine.
