Lime Spreader?

After all the great info on lime, I started thinking about making a spreader like those posted on my other thread. Does anyone have more pictures of the inside of the spreader and dimensions on building one?

Please don’t think for a second that I know much or am in any way a fabricator. I bought my drop spreader online and it works great. Here are a few pics for you.

I would run a search for ezee flow or EZ flow drop spreaders. 10’ or 12’ width seems common which is pretty wide for most ATV plotting use. I couldn’t get one that wide to some plots.

This place always seems to have a couple on hand. https://jmequipsales.com/shop/ferti...ez-flow-fertilizer-lime-drop-spreader-995-00/

Mine is badged by Sears and Roebuck……but I think it might be an Ideal brand. It’s an 8’ wide spread pattern but with the wheels it’s about 10’ wide. It’ll hold around 1000# of AG lime per load and takes about 20 minutes at about 6-8 mph on my ATV to empty it. The only setting I use are closed and wide open :)

Last year I bought 23 ton for $1000 ……delivered appx. 1/2 load to 2 spots (150 miles round trip).

No pics but liming all of my woods trails (appx 1.5 miles), in addition to my plots, did wonders for them last year!!!

We are liming food plots with lumps, dips, and rocks. The tires need to absorb some shock. When you get bumped around a bit, you can spill some off the top, a cover helps alot.

Ocassional rocks can hit the opening assmebly. I added a bump bar on mine after I put a dent on the adjustable feed assembly. Being able to shut off and on flow while being no the ATV is a huge plus. Need to work on mine in that regard.

I found a gandy 36 series push spreader that was used for pelletized mulch, so I had o buy a regular bottom opening assembly. I converted it to tow behind. IF you're using it far from civilization, you might want to buy a inner tube to have around incase.

Look around some lawn or smaller food plot models can be utilized. I wash it down when I am done and put a little motor oil on the non stainless metal parts.

I just placed an order for a load of crushed limestone (Dolmeic Lime). I got lots of trucking to do this.....but they quoted me $48 / ton for the lime with a 23 /24 ton load delivered on an end dump trailer. The CCEC is about 1200 (whatever that means?). So I guess I am looking at a $1150 bill coming up in mid-May....after road restrictions come off.

The pic below is the finished product after new tires and paint. I think I paid $75 for one that was quite 'used" but serviceable after putting some money into making it narrower.. The second pic shows that I sectioned two prices out from both sides - but kept the very center and the ends. That made it easy to retain the shut-off areas and bearings and such. Mine holds one full bucket load of lime per run.....I'd guess about 1500 lbs or so.....tops. It's allot easier to maneuver around in the 6 foot width shown. I pull mine with any wheeler.

Happened to run across this new brand of drop spreader - that will disperse lime. So I emailed for prices. Thought I should post it up here. Seems a fair price for this kinda machine. - tho some may be a bit small when loading with a tractor and bucket. They offer steel and SS models.

Whether you're spreading lime, seed, or something else, I hope you found plenty of information on our products. We make many high quality spreaders, and haven't shortcut these models. They are made with 14 gauge steel, all terrain 23" tires, 15 spread settings, and a heavy axle to handle a full load of lime!

We have the 3, 4, & 5 foot models to spread any width you need behind an ATV or tractor. If you are worried about weather conditions like rain or wind, we offer a lid for each unit. We also offer a 2nd agitator if your material is less flowable and needs to be broken up better.

I have some pricing for the units and options below. I can ship it to you truck freight, it is considerably cheaper if you have a business to unload the unit or can unload with forks yourself, feel free to ask me more about freight costs specific to you.

My personal contact information is listed below, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to ask about our equipment.

Thank you for connecting, Have a great day!

Yep. Pulled it with a Kawasaki 400

Then I should be ok pulling with a kawasaki mule

Yep....no issues that I can see. This spring if I can get a trailer into my place I plan to put down 23 tons of lime using my Honda Pioneer. This is one time I wish I still had my wheeler......as I can reach the handle to operate the flow-gate from the seat and it's more nimble in tight areas. Gonna have to make a few trips back and forth out of the drivers seat to open those gates with a UTV.

I’m new here and trying to read and get up to speed. Did you list what brand sold these units that would be suitable for ag lime?
