Killing Buttonbush

Buttonbush has spread all over the edge of my pond. It’s almost impossible to fish from the bank and I’m on a mission to eliminate it. It’s like the sweetgum of shallow water. I’ve done a lot of research and there’s very little info available on effective methods to kill it. It looks like I may have to cut it and stump treat it with glyphosate which is going to be a LOT of work.

Anyone have any tales to tell of fighting a Buttonbush outbreak?
