It Ain't a Granny Smith ... Hmmm ?

i bought a Granny Smith tree in 2004. I planted it and others in a valley with no light and other things making it a terrible spot. Few years later, I moved it with the backhoe. It had never produced before this year and I don't think it had even flowed but it was shaped nice and overv 20 feet tall. Following advise from years ago on another forum Trapper LM said to hit similar trees with a bat or cut them on lower 4 feet with a knife. Didn't recall the knife part but did cut it 1/3 the way around just bellow the cambium with a pruning saw before buds broke. Well it worked and that thing is LOADED with apples. But they ain't Granny Smiths unless she is beat red mad :). Now I have a mystery tree!

Lol i thought your were gonna say you went Jose Canseco in that thing! Apple surprise, interesting...

When they ripen someone here should be able to figure it out based on looks, ripening time and taste. I'm in the same boat with some apples this year. Just another fun adventure!
