Is this worth anything?

Dukslayr

5 year old buck +
So the farm I bought last year cane with a number of farm implements; some working implements, some that need some work, some that are probably beyond repair. I’m in the process of trying to figure out what to do with some of this stuff so I thought I would check with the experts on here. If there’s no value in some of this stuff I’m going to have it hauled off as I’m not a fan of junk clutter at all. That being said I’ve only got pictures of this one old tractor right now. Obviously this sucker has seen much better days and hadn’t moved in eons. Does something like this have any value to folks outside of being a yard ornament? I’m trying to decide what I do with it...try to sell it, offer if for free if someone will come haul it off, pay someone to haul it or, or something else? Any thoughts?

Id put it on ebay with no reserve. Has to be a farmall guy out there that needs parts.
If not, call a scrap metal guy. But don't pay him to take it! Jut give it to him for taking it.

Depending on what I could learn from you all I was going to throw it on our local Facebook farm swap page. Just wanted to make sure this wasn’t some fancy tractor style diamond in the rough

I see tractors like that all the time that go for $400-$600. That looks like a farmall H to me. They made a ton of them, not rare, but a very popular good tractor. I still doesn't seem right but a decent running H like that goes for$1200-1500. I've seen restored ones, ready for a parade $2500. That's less than a old beat up atv goes for. Its worth money in parts if someone needs them. All them parts can add up. I bet if some one needed tires and rims, you could get $400 for them alone. It would be worth it for parts. I've also see some old timers get ones like that going again, I don't think they could flip it and make much. I think they just like to tinker.

You might luck into a local auction company that sells farm equipment. Some of the outfits I have seen will periodically have a big sale of accumulated farm equipment and that farmall would fit right in.

You could always buy another mate and keep that one for parts. ;)

One thing I will not be doing is keeping this one for parts and getting another :) My dad is a tinkerer and has 3-4 old JD tractors, but that’s just not my thing. I do appreciate the input though!

Put on Craig's list for $750. If you get $300-$400 and they haul out, you are ahead of the game.

Just wanted to post an update on here. I posted the tractor on our local Facebook farm swap page and could not believe the response I got. I posted it for sale for 500 OBO and had no less than 30 responses in less than 24 hours. Ultimately I sold it for full asking price in less than a day. It’s actually a Farmall model M (unfortunately not a super M...if it was a super M apparently it would be worth 2x). I guess the power steering unit on this tractor is worth s out 500 bucks alone. Should have asked for more...but never would have thought that old rusted out tractor would be worth anything, let alone 500 bucks. I learned a lot from the guys that responded. Seems like these tractors are highly collected. Thanks again guys! I have some other equipment I’m going to get your thoughts on as well once I can get back out there to take some pictures.

Looks like great yard art! Haul it to the front yard for a Valentines day gift to the wife. Tell her to plant flowers on it in the summer, and you'll hang lights on it for Christmas. It's sure to be exactly what your wife wants! :)

That really surprises me. You can buy an M in working condition for $1,000- $2,000 here. It would take a lot more money than that to get yours running!

Haha, someday you'll probably find yourself trying to track it down and buy it back. Seen plenty of guys start missing their dad's old tractors, then drive halfway across the country after 30 years to bring them home.

That's awesome you got $500 for it. Sounds like a win/win deal if you got some cash and got rid of some junk in your field and someone got a decent deal for some spare parts or a big project.

I thought you would be lucky to find someone to pick it up for free.

They’re buying it for parts. Apparently parts are not easy to come by...particularly the power steering unit that’s on it. I can’t imagine this tractor will ever be running again.

I definitely will not (unless I learn there was 200,000 stashed in the tranny). I have no history with this tractor. I bought the farm in September last year and it last sitting right in the middle of a field that I intend to turn into a sunflower field. I hear what you’re saying though. In this case I don’t need the money...I just want the tractor gone and the money turned out to be a bonus!

I was worried I was going to have to pay someone to haul it off...so it’s definitely a win for me. There was small old dilapidated farmhouse I had to knock down and pay to haul off too so this will help offset that. That old house was a liability case waiting to happen.

I've found that out first hand.we would have been a lot more ahead on most of ours by purchasing tractors that were all restored and gone thru than spending the time and money on fixer uppers.

Funny. My mom wanted to buy back her Dad's John Deere 60. Pap passed in 1972. Her cousin bought the tractor in the 1980s and it never went far. She brought it up every so often because Pap's 60 had power steering and my Dad's 60 doesn't. Pap's 60 sat out by the road a couple years ago with a for sale sign on it. She checked on it but her cousin wanted maybe $500 too much. I guess my Dad made it 78 years without power steering and can struggle along a few more without it too.
