Is this the gradepro

I've four E5's, not the E5S and they work fine.

They have the e5 for a couple bucks less. Wonder what the difference is and if it even matters. May pick up a handful for $37

There's only two changes I'd make to the E5. Drop the viewing screen ,which would drop the batteries to 6 not 8, and I wish it would retain the time/date while changing batteries. Otherwise I think they're light years ahead of the Brownings I had.

Besides price - what makes them light years ahead of browning. I have some ten year old brownings still running.

I do food plot surveys to get a count for the number of deer using them and for how long. I believe there was a setting that the E5S had, that the E5 didn't. Something with setting the time laps times. That's all I've noticed. If you aren't using time lapse, then no worries. I've been running them since July of last year and am generally happy with the performance. However, I did have one camera "miss me" when riding back out at night on my bike where a different camera caught me. Might have been a low battery though.

Put your Brownings on a threaded mount and then try to change the batteries. Every Browning I had had the SD card in a different location/orientation. Turn your Browning off before it's done recording and risk losing everything on your card. I think for their price someone at Browning could have figured it out. And I think the video is better on the GardePro.

I get the 3 year protection plan off Amazon for another $5. That way if you do get a dud, they'll just give you your money back. Can't beat a camera for $42 with a 3 year warranty. I just replaced the one that someone took the card out of it and left it hang open and got ruined.

I liked the browning spec Ops the best. They'd run 180ish IIRC. I think they took slightly better pics than the gardepro. That being said, all I buy are gardepros now. For $40 it just makes sense. They're very similar cams, and I'm the same as NH, my cams must be black out flash. I think the main diff from the E5 to E5s is 48 vs 64 megapixels. Basically nothing.

Mine always holds the charge on the internal battery enough to remember the date and time. I don't ever let my batteries run out completely though.

On a side note, I did pick up the Gardepro solar panel kit and am trying that out this weekend. I'll report back what I find.

Got both E5 and E5S. So good so far. Far as triggering goes, it has been my most liked camera. I often put 2 cameras up to compare at first, or when I doubt they're working right.

You'll like it, get the 2 pack.

Only bad experience was I had it on video by accident on a real windy night. Sucked the batteries down in one night, but stuffed the card up full too. Was in a poor location with alot of brush nearby to wave badly at.

Many other good experiences though. customer service is good too.

I bought (2) E6's with wifi. Anybody use those? Bought them as christmas gifts. Just regulr folks who want to see whats in their backyard close to their house. Nothing crazy out back stuff. Bought them a ring outdoor 4 camera too if the E6's don't pan out.

As far as the E6's go, I think the HuntingFarmer did a video on them or another similar camera. You should check on this feature because these types of wifi cams normally only work between your phone (via an app) and the camera. They cannot connect to your home's wifi. So the signal strength is typically very poor. I could see the value, but I am not sure if the slow transmission speeds and reduced battery life is worth it to not have to pull a card manually.

I actually like the viewfinder for running through what the most recent videos are showing when I pull the cards. You can also go with the test mode and move branches if you think they might make false triggers when setting a camera up for the first time.

If I had a couple of suggestions for these cameras or anyone else out there listening, if the battery life dips below a certain point, record a still image at the triggering instead of recording a video for 1.5 seconds or whatever it is. Another suggestion I have is related to the video formats. Of course they can work on most phones and computers, but I have noticed that the newer gardepro versions will not play through several major brand tv's video players. The older formats worked just fine. My favorite way of viewing videos from the Gardepros is through an SD card reader on the TV. The resolution and sound are high enough to warrant viewing on a bigger screen, and with the more recent versions this is not possible from the couple of tvs I have tried it on.

The browning no-glow cams i have are not competitive with garde pro for night time picture quality at 3x or more the cost. I dont think garde pro has the long term reliability, detection circuit quality, and battery life of the brownings though. I have some pretty old dark ops cams that keep on ticking and have spent a lot of time in the elements. They are still out there taking terrible night time pics.
