Cheap microscopes and borescopes/endoscopes

I work for my company's laboratory and use microscopes to inspect and photograph all the time. For one project a few years ago, I rented a fantastic $20K borescope for $600/day. 5 years ago, I bought a $500 USB microscope hoping for a portable setup and it was lousy. But in the last year, we've tried some really cheap stuff from Amazon and been impressed.

We needed a borescope/endoscope last fall and bought several sub $100 ones off Amazon. They connected to a smartphone or iPad by wifi and an app, had integrated LED lights, and the were somewhat waterproof. It is on my list to buy for home for the next time I want to see back into something for plumbing or something.

My lab technician just purchased this USB microscope for $35. I was impressed by the photos he took. With Windows 10, he just plugged it in and used Win10's Camera app to control it and take photos. With older windows, I think you had to install a bit of software. With an OTG USB connector, I think newer android phones and tablets could run it but not iPads. Plan to get one for my 6 year old and my wife said that would be the birthday present for my daughter's friends.

That's cool.
Never knew anything like that existed. Cripes, a 50 foot lighted bore scope for under $30. I may have to own one of those.
