If you could change one regulation in your state

The big concern, here - would hunters kill enough deer with our abundance of cover. We have a lot 3000/4000 acre leases - all in early successional growth with almost no hardwood. Our regs allow baiting during season in cwd zones. Thinking by our g&f, if they outlawed baiting - hunters wouldnt kill enough deer. I agree 100% with that theory. I would be afraid the deer population would balloon with no baiting. We already have an 8 week firearm season - I doubt increasing season length or bag limit would help. I have seen higher deer density, and as great as they may sound, my family hit so many deer with our vehicles, we got a cancellation notice from our insurance company.

My 2 acres of standing corn is not providing the draw I was hoping for either.

Are you allowed to mow your corn. They definitely like it better on the ground.

Haha it’s ky. You can dump a tractor trailer load of corn on the ground…you can definitely mow it.

Yes, but the farmer does everything with the corn in exchange for tractor work since I don't have a tractor up there. He mows lanes and firebreaks in my old fields. He picks the other half of the corn after the season. I live 10.5 hrs away, so it works out good. If I had a tractor up there, I would do things a little different. I just work in the timber during the off season mainly.

Next year see if he will combine the corn before season and just off load 1/2 of the field on to the ground as he’s combining. A field full of corn spread out has to be better then a pile.

He keeps all the corn. He picked half during the first part of the season, and the other half after. He's picking whole cobs he sells. I get tractor work in exchange.

Ah, Got it. I thought he left you 1/2.
