I found this interesting stalk in the middle of a thorn thicket never seen anything like this feels like it's got a hollow stem and it's bark looks like that of elderberry the buds are huge and they alternate from east west to north south at each segment.. about 5 in apart.. thanks

Looks a lot like Red Elderberry but I can’t say for sure.

It is elderberry, and I'd say Red Elderberry too!
