Things like this are hilarious. It's like every single University PR piece in the last 30 years.
Sure, it is a little bit pandering. They do these things for the same reason they have men's and women's divisions of chess. It helps with recruiting people not normally associated with an activity. The ends shouldn't justify the means, but I don't mind it if it means bringing more people to the cause.

Haha. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they drew from a hat filled with a hundred pics. At my favorite Wallyworld there's a lady looking just like her who works the sporting good desk. She's probably young enough to be my daughter but she talks about taking her grandkids deer hunting all the time. Lol. Sweet lady.

Bahahahahaaaa! That is offensive on so many levels! Why doesn't she get to hunt with a weapon... is it because she's a woman or because she's not white? Why does she have to carry his equipment? How did this pass the sniff test? I can't imagine anyone in their right mind looking at this before print and not seeing huge problems with it.

I don’t know if it’s racist but I do know it’s ridiculous. I mean yes we all know the storied history of black women and archery guides in the great state of Wisconsin but id bet my pinky toe there is less than 10 black women archery hunters in the entire state. Just like every commercial is now a mixed race couple or a same sex couple, just read the room.

Maybe the lack of black women in archery hunting is the very reason she was put on the cover? It doesn't have to be pandering.
Not for nothing, but this could also be a photo from the Field to Fork program which is designed to recruit new adult hunters. There are all kinds of photos like this from the past several years of the program, Wisconsin included.
