Good source for grafted persimmon in zone 6

Hello Everyone! New to the forum, but I got to say I love it! I'm looking for some grafted persimmon trees for zone 6 here in Pennsylvania. I have a bunch of American Persimmon growing, but I want to add some variety as well as different fruit drop times. I saw some on Stark that peaked my interest, but I didn't know if there was anywhere else that you all know of. Thanks!

Look up England's Orchard on the Internet and give Cliff England a call. He has a lot of varieties.

I think that persimmons are more of a DIY grafting proposition but I would certainly buy from England's if I was looking to buy grafted trees. I ordered some persimmon scions from England's that just arrived yesterday. I got scionwood for Miller, Dollywood, Wonderful, and 100-46, plus a paw paw variety. He has a lot more persimmon varieties available for scions than in grafted trees (http://www.nuttrees.net/PersimmonScionwoodList2014.pdf). Last year I traded for scions for Meader, Prok, and Yates and have 2 to 4 trees grafted of each. Next year, I'll probably get a few more persimmon and paw paw scions from them.

If you have American persimmons growing on you land your best bet is to graft them with different varieties. This thread describes the process of bark grafting persimmons with plenty of pictures: http://www.habitat-talk.com/index.php?threads/sex-change-operation-transfered-from-qdma-forum.5547/

Folks on here that work with persimmons often trade scions. Most named varieties drop early and I use them to cover the early period. You can also buy persimmon scions from Cliff England. This is much less expensive than buying trees and will produce much faster. I use the named varieties to cover the earlier period and have traded scions with folks across the country that have different drop times.

If you go this route, order your scions ASAP. They must be collected when dormant. Typical bark grafting time in my area 7A is mid-May. It may be slightly later in your zone. However, I expect everything to be earlier than normal this year.
