Garry oaks Sutherland Oregon

Angus 1895

5 year old buck +
Back in Oregon working.

These oaks are amazing in how they can not only survive but totally dominate the land scape here.

The fallen acorns are eaten by something in the trees out in the pasture I am amazed at how thick the seedlings tap roots are.

When I moved my boy out to Tacoma last September, the oaks were absolutely loaded with acorns. They looked alot like our white oaks, but just a little different.

I love the pnw. We just spent 10 days in Washington with one of those in or. My kids want to move…

We can take a back road between keno and Richland. Once over the pass towards Richmond the trees changed to approximately 100% oaks. It didn’t start to diversify until near the valley floor.

Last year I gathered acorns from Seattle to Sutherland. The northern oaks look a lot like your English. ( Seedlings) They branched more but grew smaller height. The southern ones are very different. The southern ones grew even less were very dark green in the leaves and the roots had a dramatically larger root circumference.
